When we start planning a trip, we think about what we are going to wear, where we are going to go and such details before days or even weeks. But when it comes to our health and travel safety, we don’t give it much of a thought.

But the fact is, there are incidents when we always fee why didn't we think of this before while packing. When we are in a new place with new weather and food, we don't know how our body will cope up with it. While travel we should always be prepared for both the best and the worst. 1. Get Enough fluids

Dehydration is a severe problem for many people while traveling. Many people won't even think of it because they could always by a bottle of water when they are in their hometown.

But while traveling that might not be the center at all. The changes our bodies go through will demand more of water to keep u with it. Even just going to your room with your luggage might feel extremely exhausting. And it is not always that we can find mineral water bottles to buy.

You won't be able to move, and you will eventually lose consciousness if there is not enough water in your body. So don't forget to drink lots of water. If you feel quenched, try to get a drink with glucose or sugar content in it. Even more important, always carry a reusable water bottle with you. So you can refill it if you can't buy mineral water.

2. Insect-repellent lotion

This is not something that always crosses our mind, yet it is something we still wish we had thought about. Whether you are traveling alone or with our kids, carrying an insect repellent might come very handy. Few insects might cause irritation and rashes all over the skin.

Especially if you are traveling to countries that require vaccination, the chances of mosquitoes and other diseases that come along with it are much larger. Don’t think since you have taken the vaccines this might not be important. It’s required to avoid the skin allergies and problems that insects would bring.

3. First Aid Kit

It is imperative that you carry a first aid kit with you for all your travels. Even if it is a small cut or bruise, the chances of infection are much more while you are traveling. And you might not be able to get an antiseptic where you are.

So prepare a first aid kit on your own including the things you think is necessary including your prescriptions. Or you could buy a travel first aid kit online or from a pharmacy. Don’t forget to include medicines for allergies, painkillers and ORS powders just in case.

The chances of packing a whistle are pretty rare. But it might be the one thing you might need in case of an emergency. At any point, when an emergency strike, there is nothing better than a whistle that can get people’s attention.

Whether it is day or night, or a place whether you don’t know the language while drowning or under rubbles, a whistle will find its way through. So always carry one, not inside your bag but in your pocket or somewhere where it is easily accessible at all times.

6. A Good Pair of Shoes

Never underestimate the power of a good pair of shoes while traveling. And don't just imagine a regular pair of shoes can survive through hikes trails, snow and all in one unless it is designed for it. There is a reason why specific shoes have particular purposes. What might be comfortable for regular walking in the city might not be your friend when you are hiking up muddy trails or a snow-covered road.

The few bucks you might spend on a good shoe might save you from paying some large sum on hospitals bills after a severe sprain or even worse fracture.

7. Medical ID

All it would take you to create a medical I’d is just a few minutes. It will include all the necessary medical information about you in case of an emergency. If you get involved with an accident, or there is a medical emergency, and you are not in a state to explain your condition to others, this list will give you them access to your primary information.

List down the essential details that include all these items and be sure to bring it out.

  • Birth Date
  • Blood Type
  • Weight
  • Height
  • Allergies and Reactions
  • Medications you’re currently taking (including vitamins and Contraceptives)
  • Organ Donor Standing
  • Any medical condition you have (heart diseases, diabetes, liver problems, etc.)
  • Emergency Contact Name, their contact number, and your relationship with them.
  • Make sure you keep this somewhere easily accessible by others like your wallet. Alternatively, you can also enter this information on your phone. Most smartphones come with the setting that they don’t have to unlock your phone to chess this information. There is an option for an emergency in the lock screen, and all you have to do is enter the details in that.

And importantly, get travel insurance for yourself, however, small your trip is. We never know what unexpected scenarios might happen. For even something as missing your flight, insurance might be helpful at times.
